Systems Engineer II

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

  • Primary duties involve configuring, operating and maintaining a variety of communications, computer, network, and navigation devices equipment; this includes satellite communication systems, voice net systems, radios, network routers, switches, fiber optic gyros, and servers.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on systems.
  • Supports mission operations, testing, and troubleshooting on range systems, in particular mobile and land Flight Safety Systems. 
  • Plans and supports upgrades and modernization projects including equipment installation, cabling, testing, and documentation. 
  • Assists with operations and maintenance of Telemetry and Mission Safety equipment, facilities, and infrastructure systems.
  • Maintains configuration control documentation.
  • Maintains property and equipment calibration accounts.
  • Performs other related duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Self-starter with the ability to follow established processes and perform duties with little supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to sail aboard the KMRSS Worthy in a deep sea environment for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with communications equipment, to include radios, MRSAT, VSAT or related.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, RF power meters, and/or network analyzers.
  • English language proficient including verbal and writing skills, and report preparation.  
  • Ability to work well in a team orientated environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with satellite communications systems, configuring routed and switched IP networking equipment.
  • Security+, Network+, CCENT, and/or CCNA.
  • Familiar with Risk Management Framework (RMF), Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification & Accreditation Program (DIACAP).
  • Skilled at electronics troubleshooting and repair.
  • Demonstrated skill in building and/or terminating cables including network, BNC, N-type RF cables, and soldering.
  • Familiar with the Universal Documentation System (UDS).
  • Software programming or SharePoint management.  
  • 5 years related experience working with satellite and other communication systems, and switched and routed networks.   
  • 8+ years related experience working with Satellite and other communications, and networking systems.
  • Navy or civilian background working on board a ship.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flight safety capacity at a missile range effectively.
  • Skill and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: telemetry and decommutation systems (Smartronix, NetAcquire, etc.), routed and switched IP networking, antenna servo systems, radio frequency, link margin analysis, test equipment such as spectrum and network analyzers and oscilloscopes.   
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
