Mission Planner II

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • High-level responsibilities include conducting and coordinating scientific mission planning activities in support of RTS technical operations.   
  • Employs mission planning product workstation to generate mission, sensor, and simulator files as well as autotasker scripts for use on RTS mission tests. 
  • Runs simulations and/or produces plots to verify tracking capabilities, verify RTS Distributed Operations (RDO) algorithms including Best Choice, Best Estimate of Trajectory, Impact Predictions, Sensor Timelines, and Directing Data, and inputs such as target characteristics, nominal trajectories, body motion parameters, and RCS for various sensors. 
  • Maintains flexibility to work outside the normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when needed.
  • Evaluates and reports various performance metrics.
  • Participates in Review Boards related to mission planning and operational software.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Demonstrated ability working with MATLAB.
  • High motivation and ability to work under time constraints.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, UNIX and/or LINUX.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Functions well within a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside normal schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when needed.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in space program operations, planning or ballistic missile test mission planning.
  • Familiarity with radar concepts.
  • Python experience.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 2  years in mission planning and trajectory analysis or related with a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • OR 1 year in mission planning and trajectory analysis or related with a Master of Science degree.  
Desired: 
  • 5 years in mission planning and trajectory analysis or related field.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics or related discipline.
Desired: 
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering, Physics or related discipline.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • US Passport or the ability to obtain one is required.
