Electronics Technician II

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides operations and maintenance support for a C-Band and K-Band radar system.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs various pieces of commercial and custom hardware.
  • Provides operations support including but not limited to daily warm-ups, satellite tracks and range operations. 
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures and runs system diagnostic software.
  • Provides support to receiver, transmitter and hardware engineers during design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects involving receivers, transmitters, servos, and antenna subsystems.
  • Assembles, wires and bench tests components and subassemblies. 
  • Installs new equipment and provides technical input about system configuration and performance.
  • Maintains an equipment calibration data base, test fixtures and assemblies utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components.
  • Climbs and works at moderate heights.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Ability to effectively use standard electronic test equipment, including but not limited to oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, RF power meters, spectrum analyzers and frequency analyzers.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics. 
  • Ability to successfully troubleshoot electronics and perform general repairs.
  • Strong background in high power electronics and RF transmission. 
  • Excellent electrical fabrication skills and soldering skills.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work at moderate heights, up to 150 ft.
  • Sufficient critical thinking and writing skills required to generate Job Safety Analysis (JSA), maintenance & operation procedures, and weekly reports.
  • General computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Ability to perform maintenance on vacuum tubes and high power peak pulsed microwave transmitters.  
  • Ability to safely setup and conduct measurements of dc or dc pulsed high-voltage circuits. 
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware.
  • Mechanical fabrication skills.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 3 years of electronics technician experience including some high voltage systems, high power electronics and RF transmission equipment experience.   
Desired: 
  • Additional 2 years RF equipment experience including experience with analog/RF hardware components such as amplifiers, couplers, and hybrids.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of civilian or military electronics training.
  • Must obtain Climber II Certification within 6 months of hire (local training and testing provided).
Desired: 
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or related discipline.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied
  • US Citizen is required.
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
