Hardware Engineer I

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Engineer will support the operation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of RTS Optics systems (tracking mounts, telescopes, servers and recording systems, high speed cameras, and more).
  • The Engineer will also assist with RTS Optics mission planning and support.
  • Additional duties may include maintaining and monitoring system availability, reliability, and supportability.
  • The candidate should be comfortable in both a lab and field environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Capable of performing physical labor.
  • Able to travel by boat, helicopter or aircraft to work on remote sites with limited facilities.
  • Must be PC and Microsoft Office proficient.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critical thinking; the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Knowledge of optical systems and sensors, timing and recording systems.
  • Proficient with feedback and motion control systems and related hardware such as motors, servos, tachometers and encoders.
  • Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, QNX or other real-time operating systems; MATLAB; C programming.
  • Knowledge of electronic systems and wiring.
  • Skilled working with high speed and/or surveillance cameras, analog and digital distribution, control over IP.     
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 2 years of related experience.    
Desired: 
  • 4 years of related optics experience.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • US Citizenship is required. 
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
