Computer Technician I

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs Help Desk support.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, application, and operating system issues.
  • Responds to customer needs, questions, and concerns in an accurate, effective, and timely manner.
  • Creates trouble tickets, tracks problems through to completion, and documents all findings and resolutions to knowledge database.
  • Collaborates with information technology subject matter experts to resolve automation issues.
  • Escalates problems to higher level as required to assure timely resolution.
  • Delivers and installs systems to end users as required.
  • Performs hardware and software moves, adds, and changes.
  • Reports details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and or removed for updating configuration management records.
  • Performs off hour maintenance and upgrades to equipment including operating systems patching and monitoring.
  • Maintains flexible on-call schedule in order to promptly respond to and address customer needs.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Demonstrated ability working with Windows 7 operating systems.
  • Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office 2013.
  • Working knowledge of network printers and print queues.
  • Ability to provide basic network troubleshooting.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-call hours in order to address customer needs.
  • Excellent English verbal and writing skills including report preparation.
  • Excellent customer interaction skills.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience with SCCM, Remote Access, Remedy, and HEAT.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 1+ years of experience in computer repairs, maintenance, and software troubleshooting.   
Desired: 
  • 3+ years previous customer desktop support experience preferred.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CompTIA Security + or equivalent DoD Directive 8570.01-m certification.
Desired: 
  • Associate's Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Any of the following certifications:  A +, Network +, MCP, MCDST.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • US DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
