Systems Engineer III (Cybersecurity Database Specialist)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts routine assessments of Oracle and SQL databases for Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliancy.
  • Demonstrates an ability supporting DIACAP or NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) certification and accreditation in a DoD Environment.
  • Provide reports and remediation direction to Cybersecurity and Information Systems management.
  • Performs occasional STIG configuration of databases to meet compliance requirements.
  • Assists in documentation and maintenance of database security plans.
  • Responsible for server maintenance and configuration of HBSS ePO servers and clients.
  • Conducts internal audits to support internal, Site Assistance Visit (SAV), Command Cyber Readiness Inspections (CCRI), and Security Control Assessor (SCA) inspections.
  • Assist in developing/maintaining Group Policy to ensure proper security configuration.
  • Maintains STIG GPO library and documentation.
  • Perform Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) remediation via SCCM.
  • Interfaces with database, system administrators, and help desk personnel to explain open findings and required resolution.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings and other meetings on an as needed or required basis.
  • Provides technical guidance, mentoring and education to others in the Cybersecurity office and other mission related teams as requested or required.
  • Supports the Cybersecurity office in Certification & Accreditation efforts across a range of classified and unclassified networks.
  • Work with minimal supervision in a deployed environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Working knowledge administrating Windows Server 2008, 2012, and Windows 7 operating systems.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Demonstrated ability reviewing and applying Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIG and checklist requirements.
  • Knowledge of SCAP Compliance Checker tool.
  • Excellent English verbal and writing skills including reporting and procedure documentation.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Working knowledge of Army and DoD regulations and policies.
  • Working knowledge of the DISA Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) platform for vulnerability management.
  • Proficiency working with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Host Based Security System (HBSS) and DoD Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
  • Working knowledge of Qradar.
  • Proficiency working with Unix/Linux administration and security configuration.
  • Demonstrated scripting knowledge - VBScript, PowerShell, Bash, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively support a Microsoft SCCM environment, Symantec Deployment Solution, and/or a Dell KACE platform.
  • Knowledge of MySQL administration and security.
  • Working knowledge of DBProtect and related features.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 5 years of related experience in database security or management.
  • Microsoft IIS configuration or administration experience.
  • 4 years of experience with installation and maintenance (or security specific configuration) of Microsoft SQL 2008 (or above) and/or Oracle.
Desired: 
  • 8+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, preferably in a Department of Defense environment.
EDUCATION:
Required:  
  • Bachelor of Science or Art degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field. 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ or similar certifications meeting DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements for Information Assurance.
  • Microsoft SQL or Oracle database certification.
Desired: 
  • Other Microsoft OS, Cisco, Linux, or security related certifications.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • US passport or the ability to obtain one is required.
