Financial Analyst, Sr.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs varied professional accounting or financial work requiring the standardized applications of well-established principles, theories, concepts, and practices. 
  • Makes day-to-day decisions concerning the treatment of financial transactions. 
  • Is expected to recommend solutions to complex problems and to propose system changes for approval at higher levels. 
  • Develops sound, practical solutions to a wide range of accounting financial problems where guidelines are well defined or to problems in one functional area where guidelines are less defined.
  • Assignments often require judgment and resourcefulness to resolve unusual and sometimes complex problems.
  • Maintains various accounting and/or financial records, including general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers establishing or revising controls and processing transactions as directed.
  • Prepares, reviews, interprets, and analyzes all types of accounts and records of financial transactions; presents and supports findings and recommendations.
  • Develops non-standard reports and statements; interprets and points out trends or deviations from standards.
  • Prepares or reviews complex journals, summary reports, and financial statements.
  • Examines a variety of recording and reporting documents and summaries to verify accuracy and conformance with specific functional, corporate, contract, government, or professional accounting requirements.
  • Assists higher level staff members in solution of more complex problems.
  • Evaluates information and/or data drawn from current files and records to prepare reports drawn from this information.
  • Participates in special projects such as evaluations, analyses, surveys, studies, and research projects concerning financial topics where initiative in proposing and developing substance and format is required.
  • Performs additional duties and/or responsibilities as required.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Thorough knowledge of professional accounting and/or financial concepts and principles plus working knowledge of related activities gained through specialized education, training, and/or work experience of a progressively responsible nature.
  • Demonstrated ability using independent judgment to achieve assigned responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, and financial accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving techniques to accounting matters.
  • Skill in communicating orally and in writing regarding accounting matters and problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, self-motivated, dependable, and accurate with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word required.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 5 years of related experience in accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, and financial accounting.
  • 9 years of related experience in accounting may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.   
Desired: 
  • 8 or more years of related experience with a bachelor's degree highly preferred.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, 9 years of experience in accounting may be considered.
Desired: 
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the Marshall Islands.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
