ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs the day to day operation of the elementary school program.
  • Serves as the school liaison with Child Youth Services (CYS).
  • Leads school improvement activities including professional development, under the direction of the Education Services Manager (Superintendent) for all schools.
  • Provides a leadership role in developing philosophy, teaching strategies, and instructional programs.
  • Conducts elementary staff training under the direction of the superintendent.
  • Subscribes to the mission and vision of the school system and implements them with diligence.
  • Creates a strong positive working environment within the elementary school that allows optimum growth and learning.
  • Supervises instruction and the curriculum.
  • Conducts classroom observations and the continuous evaluation of assigned building personnel.
  • Develops schedules for students and teachers.
  • Administers safety and security procedures for the building, equipment, and grounds.
  • Provides effective professional development programs for faculty and staff.
  • Trains and guides the mentors of new teachers.
  • Works with instructional staff in recommending promotion and retention of students.
  • Implements discipline policies.
  • Ensures that all building maintenance and upkeep is performed as needed.
  • Organizes and administers all elementary student activities.
  • Participates in the School Advisory Council monthly.
  • Performs the duties of the curriculum coordinator.
  • Represents the department at meeting in superintendent’s absence or as assigned.
  • Provides information to students and parents about school programs and services.
  • Duties are performed under the direction of the Superintendent.
  • Works with Superintendent on salary planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Excellent communication skills including effective listening, reading comprehension, technical and/or professional writing and public speaking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Database user interfacing.
  • Resource Planning, including computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. 
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Deductive reasoning.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform staff development.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform curriculum development and committee work.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 5 years teaching experience.
  • 0-2+ years education administrator experience.   
Desired: 
  • 3+ years education administrator experience.      
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Master's degree in Education administration or leadership.
  • Current teaching and administrative certification held in one of the fifty US states. 
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is accompanied.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you and your dependents are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.  You and your dependents must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
  • This is a position of Public Trust.
