Human Resources Generalist II

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

  • The Human Resources (HR) Generalist acts as the HR Office Coordinator and provides direct administrative and technical support to the HR organization.
  • Performs a variety of HR support activities, internal and external; these activities include but are not limited to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation (of progress or results) of HR policies, programs, and processes.
  • Acts as primary backup for KRS Travel Coordinator; provides backup support to HR Assistants; reconciles Travel Services Corporate credit for Travel Services on a monthly basis.
  • Provides backup for On-Island Employment.
  • Administers various HR plans and procedures for company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems and assists in the evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Maintains Kwajalein Enterprise Asset Management System (KEAMS) records and compiles reports from database; conducts scheduled audits of KEAMS data.
  • Assists with the recruiting, on boarding and relocation of On-Island/hires, Temp/Summer Pool new hires, and/or transfers internal to Kwajalein when needed.
  • Partners with employees and management to communicate and provide assistance in policy interpretation or implementation and understanding of an HR program.
  • Oversees the cross training of HR Personnel.
  • Administers and participates in rotational assignments such as supply room, Safety, etc.
  • Prepares monthly CDRL reports and posting of charts at various locations.
  • Prepares special reports as needed; ensures HR policies and procedures are updated as required by HR Manager.
  • Works with supervisor to maintain all Desktop Procedures for HR.
  • Supports the KRS safety culture by working safely and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Works with government and regulatory agencies as related to position responsibilities.
  • Supports Employee Relations Supervisor with projects and tasks as assigned.
  • This position reports to the Employee Relations Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties of a similar or related level and assists with special projects as assigned by the HR Manager and HR Supervisors.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR practices.
  • Knowledge of computer software for application tracking and recruitment, such as CATS.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and/or KEAMS database.
  • Ability to make decisions consistent with established procedures and interact with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure and confidentiality under difficult circumstances when communicating sensitive matters.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule as required; this includes 24/7 availability for backup emergency travel off hours.
  • Attention to detail when preparing reports, reviewing data and auditing files.
  • Identifies and seeks supervisory assistance to resolve clearly-defined problems.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to manage paperwork and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to actively promote and adhere to safety, ethics and security procedures.
  • Ability to promote and display team player effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma technology and principles.
  • MS Visio experience a plus.
  • Strong aptitude for business and accounting.  
  • 4 years of progressive human resources work experience or work experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated customer service or administrative assistant experience in an office environment, including previous relocation, logistical, or financial experience.   
  • 3 years Human Resources Generalist experience.
  • Lead or supervisory role in human resources or a related field. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Accounting.
  • HRIC PHR or SPHR certification
  • SHRM-CP  or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
