Field Engineer I

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This role will assist in maintaining and operating a variety of equipment including computer and RF Mission Safety items, Communication/Network equipment, Telemetry, and test equipment. This includes performing preventative/corrective maintenance and supporting upgrade/modernization projects (equipment installation, cabling, testing, and documentation).  Maintenance duties include equipment on towers and elevated structures.
  • The field engineer will also support mission operations, testing, and troubleshooting on land and mobile Flight Safety Systems at the Reagan Test Site.  The systems are located on a ship and at sites on the small tropical islands of Kwajalein and Roi Namur.
  • Duties will include maintaining property and equipment calibration accounts, working with maintenance management record keeping system.
  • Other duties may include assisting in RF Safety surveys and Spectrum Management. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Self-starter personality with ability to follow established processes, and perform duties with little supervision. 
  • Willingness and physical ability to work aboard a ship at-sea for multiple weeks.
  • Willingness and physical ability to commute by small aircraft to remote island locations.
  • Works well in a team orientated environment.
  • Physically able to move equipment and racks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Demonstrated skill building/terminating cables including BNC, N type RF-cables, semi-rigid coax, Heliax coax and soldering.
  • Safe and comfortable using small power tools.
  • Proficient English verbal and writing skills including report preparation.     
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 2 years of experience as an electronics technician working with electronic and/or RF systems or related.      
Desired: 
  • 5 years of experience as an electronic technician.
  • Experience working at a missile Test Range.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Flight Safety Systems including solid-state high-power amplifiers, telemetry and decommutation systems, satellite communication, RF cable assembly/ termination, servo control systems and UPS. 
  • Experience working in the Navy or on board a ship at-sea.
  • Experience in Spectrum Management and/or RF Safety.
  • Experience using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, RF power meters, and network analyzers. 
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics or related discipline; 4 years related military or civilian experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
