Speech Pathologist

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs all duties required to provide speech/language services to the pre-school, the Elementary School, and the Junior/Senior High School.
  • Responsible for intake testing for articulation and language disorders. 
  • Prepares goals and objectives for students requiring services and maintain speech/language records for students.
  • Develops Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student requiring services.
  • Reviews IEP progress with students, parents, and other teachers.
  • Monitors students' progress and adjust treatments accordingly.
  • Writes reports and maintain proper documentation of information to include evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge.
  • Participates in and write reports for meetings regarding students' progress.
  • Evaluates hearing or speech and language test results, medical, and background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, fluency, voice, or swallowing disorders.
  • Coordinates with other school personnel to assure all speech/language implications are understood.
  • Serves as a member of the child study committee for each school.
  • Maintains positive relationships with each student.
  • Maintains classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Must have active listening skills. 
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.  
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
       
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 3+ years of experience as a speech/language pathologist.    
Desired: 
  • 5+ years of experience as a speech/language pathologist.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor's degree in speech/language pathology.
  • Current certification in one of the 50 United States.
Desired: 
  • Master's Degree in speech/language pathology.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) not required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
  • This is a position of Public Trust.
