Field Engineer II

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance for the ALTAIR radar antenna electro-mechanical systems.
  • Observes, tests, and evaluates complex radar mechanical systems to diagnose and repair component failures.
  • Performs maintenance, calibration, testing and modification of the antenna systems.
  • Provides design inputs for equipment modifications and repairs.
  • Works at heights up to 150 feet.
  • Maintains current spare parts inventory and procures parts as required.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of maintenance performed.
  • Supports day-to-day operations to meet radar mission requirements.
  • Performs occasional shift work to support operational tasking.
  • Adheres to Company safety policies, procedures and programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform maintenance on complex mechanical systems, gear boxes, large brake systems and/or large electric motors/generators.
  • Provides design inputs for equipment modifications and repairs.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work at heights in excess of 150 feet.
  • Willingness and physical ability to carry equipment weighing 50 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to perform occasional shift work to support operational tasking.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Welding and rigging.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; this includes applying principles, techniques, and procedures of mechanical systems.
  • Specific skills and knowledge related to movable antenna systems, gear boxes, electrical servo systems, large brake systems and/or large electric motors.
  • Understanding of high voltage safety and Radio Frequency (RF) safety.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 2 years of mechanical field support experience, working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators, and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Or 9 years of mechanical field support experience, working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related discipline.
  • OR 12 years of mechanical field support experience, working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators, and a High School Diploma or equivalent.   
Desired: 
  • 10+ years of mechanical field support working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline and 2 years of mechanical field support experience, working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators.
  • Or Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related discipline and 9 years of mechanical field support experience, working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators.
  • OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years of mechanical field support experience, working on large electro-mechanical systems and/or large power generators.
Desired: 
  • Directly related military training and/or certificates.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied
  • US DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • US Citizen is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
