Field Engineer I

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operates and maintain RTS instrumentation and optics systems, including optical tracking mounts, visible, IR, and high-speed video cameras.
  • Performs preventative/corrective maintenance supporting upgrade/modernization projects (equipment installation, cabling, testing, and documentation).  Maintenance duties include equipment on towers and elevated structures.
  • Performs mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering repair, and checkout on a variety of electronic components and subsystems.
  • Operates required Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the maintenance and evaluation of assigned hardware. Includes, but is not limited to multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Participates in and provides training to advance skill level and knowledge base of subordinates and co-workers alike.
  • Completes and maintains logs, forms, and records.
  • Supports mission operations on console.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Proficiency using standard optics test equipment.
  • Must be able to read electronic circuit schematics.
  • Must be capable of performing physical labor outdoors in a hot and humid environment for several hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel by boat, helicopter, or aircraft to and from work at remote sites with limited facilities.
  • Ability to climb towers to 60 feet.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and Linux.
  • Self-starter personality with ability to follow established processes, and perform duties with little supervision.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Familiarity with High Speed camera systems.
  • Familiarity with IR camera systems.
  • Familiarity with CCTV systems.
  • Familiarity with Servo systems.
  • Demonstrated skill in the operation and maintenance of optical tracking mounts.  
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 2 years of experience performing mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering repair, and maintenance on a variety of electronic components.   
Desired: 
  • 4 years field experience with high speed camera systems to include setup and data recovery.
  • 5 years working with optical tracking mounts.
  • Any experience working on a military test range.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • BS in Electronics Technology or related discipline; 4 years related military or civilian training may be considered in lieu of degree.
Desired: 
  • Security+ Certification
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied
  • US Citizenship required
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
