Electronics Technician III

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operates and maintains MPS-36 Radars under limited supervision; provides general guidance and training to less experienced support personnel.
  • Recognizes faults and leads troubleshooting to resolve them.
  • Identifies deficiencies and initiates corrective maintenance to resolve them.
  • Coordinates with other organizations to obtain support; requests and coordinates support.
  • Creates and updates documentation of MPS-36 Radars and supporting systems.
  • Supports engineering staff as needed and/or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as needed and/or assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work on smaller less complex projects or assignments to support larger projects or assignments.
  • Fluent in the use of electronics test equipment including but not limited to Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Wattmeter. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively read electronic schematics and update as needed.
  • Understanding of digital logic.
  • Understanding of RF and Microwave fundamentals.
  • Understanding of digital and analog communications.
  • Understanding of basic computer networking fundamentals.
  • Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley, IDEC or similar industrial monitoring and control systems.
  • Knowledge of Radar and/or Telemetry Systems.
  • Understanding of RF and Microwave transmitters and receivers.
  • Familiarity with range systems used at Reagan Test Site.   
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 5 years of experience as an Electronics Technician. 
Desired: 
  • 7 years of experience as an Electronics Technician.
  • 3+ years of experience with Kwajalein Radars, KREMS Radars or RTS Systems, operating and maintaining Radar Systems, and troubleshooting Radar Transmitters. 
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal electronics training demonstrated by certification or graduation from accredited military or civilian program.
Desired: 
  • Formal military or civilian training on Air Traffic Control Radar systems (FAA or DoD).
  • Formal military or civilian training on STARS (FAA or DoD).
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.  
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • US DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
