Field Engineer I

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands

  • Works with satellite communications, networks, computer systems, vehicle flight safety, and telemetry equipment.
  • Assists in maintaining and operating a variety of equipment including RF equipment, test equipment, computers, antennas, and pedestals.
  • Performs preventative and/or corrective maintenance; supports upgrades and/or modernization projects (equipment installation, cabling, testing, and documentation).
  • Performs maintenance duties including equipment on towers and elevated structures.
  • Supports mission operations, testing, and troubleshooting on land and mobile instrumentation systems at the Reagan Test Site; the systems are located on a ship and at sites on the small tropical islands of Kwajalein and Roi Namur.
  • Maintains property, safety, and equipment calibration accounts using maintenance management record keeping systems.
  • Assists in RF Safety surveys and Frequency Management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to self-start and follow established processes.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work aboard a ship at-sea for multiple weeks.
  • Willingness and physical ability to commute by small aircraft and/or marine craft to remote island locations as needed and/or assigned.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Physical ability to move equipment and racks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with satellite communications systems, configuring routed and switched IP networking equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, RF power meters, and network analyzers to perform electronic maintenance.
  • Demonstrated skill building and/or terminating cables including BNC, N type RF cables. semi-rigid coax, Heliax coax and soldering.
  • Safe and comfortable using small power tools such as drills, saws-all, and grinders.
  • Demonstrated skill in one or more of the following areas:  satellite communication, solid-state high-power amplifiers, telemetry systems, spectrum management and/or RF Safety, RF cable assembly/termination, servo control systems.  
  • 8 years of directly related experience working with RF, computer administration, satellite and other electronic systems, switched and routed networks.   
  • 10 or more years of experience as an electronics technician including Missile Test Range experience, and Navy, Air Force, or military experience.
  • Experience working with RF, computer administration, satellite and other electronic systems, switched and routed networks.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electronics, or related discipline.
  • Security+, Network+, Server+, CCENT, and/or CCNA.
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
