Systems Engineer II

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Primary responsibilities of this Systems Engineering/Mission Resource Coordinator position include: Project Management, defining mission requirements through analysis of customer needs, coordinating mission-specific resource needs and providing direct on-island support to mission customers.
  • Works closely with Huntsville-based Mission Technical Directors as the on-island counterpart to assist with mission test planning, execution, documentation efforts and data handling.
  • Provides technical support and coordination for on-island projects as assigned.
  • Interfaces frequently with RTS and USAG-KA personnel, range customers and various mission support departments.
  • Interfaces with operational software systems and supports real-time mission operations as required.
  • Provides direct support to the Test Operations team.
  • This position reports to the CONUS-based Test Operations Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Required: 
  • Proficient in systems engineering and/or project management.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
  • Understanding of security controls in a closed area.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office.
Desired: 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX Operating System.
  • Demonstrated ability working on a console.
  • Knowledge of range system functions.
  • Knowledge of US Army procedures, programs, methods, regulations and resources.
EXPERIENCE (Years):
Required: 
  • 2 years of test range operations experience and/or project management experience with a bachelor's degree.
  • 8 years of directly related on the job experience with an associate's degree may be considered.
  • 15 years of directly related on the job experience may be considered with a High School Diploma or equivalent.   
Desired: 
  • 5 years of test range operations experience, missile flight test operations experience and logistical coordination activities.
  • 2 years of experience in coordinating technical projects.
  • Experience working in Mission Operations.
EDUCATION:
Required: 
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of test range operations experience and/or project management experience.
  • Associate's degree with 8 years of directly related on the job experience may be considered.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 15 years of directly related on the job experience may be considered.
Desired: 
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Science.
OTHER SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • This position is accompanied.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • US DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you and your dependents are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You and your dependents must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
