Information Systems Security Technician

Location: Huntsville, Alabama

  • Supports the Director of Information Management, Cybersecurity staff and other senior management in areas of Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP), RMF for DoD IT, DoD/Army Regulations, Incident Response, Software Assurance and related Cybersecurity disciplines.
  • Coordinates and documents information security policies.
  • Prepares reports and studies as requested.
  • Performs vulnerability scans; interprets and reports results.
  • Audits systems for security compliance to include validation of DoD STIG requirements and logs file review.
  • Acts as part of Cybersecurity incident response team.
  • Supports TDY travel for mission operations.
  • Maintains a valid U.S. passport; ensures passport expiration does not affect ability to travel on TDY as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • In depth understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for supporting complex hardware, software, and network environments.
  • Excellent English verbal and writing skills including reporting and procedure documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Army and DoD regulations and policies.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Capacity to learn and master new technologies quickly.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficient.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma program tools and methodologies and/or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Working knowledge of Army Regulation 25-2.
  • Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Familiarity with network based vulnerability scanning and the Army Information. Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) program processes.
  • System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).  
  • Five (5) years of experience (with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline) in Information Assurance, Systems Administration, Network Administration, or technical support of an Enterprise environment including the following:
    • Administrating Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7.
    • Supporting Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification & Accreditation Program (DIACAP) or Risk Management Framework (RMF).
    • Auditing STIG requirements.
  • Seven (7) years of directly related on the job experience and a related associate’s degree may be considered.
  • Nine (9) years of directly related on the job experience and a High School Diploma or equivalent may be considered.
  • 7 years of experience in Information Assurance, preferably in a Department of Defense environment with a related bachelor's degree, including the following:
    • Supporting Risk Management Framework and NIST standards.
    • Reviewing and applying Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and checklist requirements.
    • Performing wireless scans utilizing the Flying squirrel application.
    • Administrating Windows Server 2012 and Windows 10.
    • Performing Physical Security aspects of Army Information Systems to include proper labeling, spacing, and storage of media and devices.
    • Operating as part of Incident Response team.
    • Utilizing VMWare.
    • Networking administration or auditing.
    • IDS/IPS administration or auditing.
    • Microsoft Project.
    • Unix/Linux administration and security configuration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline and five (5) years of directly related on the job experience.
  • Related associates degree and seven (7) years of directly related on the job experience may be considered.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years of directly related on the job experience may be considered.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ or similar certifications meeting DoD 8570.1 Level II requirements for Information Assurance.
  • Microsoft OS, Cisco, Linux or related certification.
  • Common Access Card (CAC) required to perform job duties.
  • US Citizen is required.
  • Active US DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Traveling to Kwajalein Atoll, you are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to relocation.
  • You must maintain a current passport during your stay on Kwajalein Atoll.
